The weekend of June 11th was a washout with no real work able to be done, however this weekend has been much better. Saturday although damp gave us a 2 hour dry slot which enabled good work and Sunday was great weather for working. The recent rain and the clearance of the ground has encouraged some late germination of Balsam so we have concentrated our efforts on removing this in the lower area of the site and I am reasonable confident that we have done a good job. With the continuing rain this area is returning to bog so it was well that we worked here while we were able. We shall now work to ensure that the watercourses are clear of vegetation (primarily Balsam) as this has to be done before work can done at the pond and well.

There are some areas which are totally inaccessible and it is worrying to see the heads of mature plants appearing over the barrier of brambles. I shall seek another way to get to them.
